the ability to get transcripts of videos is a youtube feature that is sometimes useful in my line of work. i’m wondering if this is somehow possible with piped?

As long as it’s not supported by NewPipeExtractor, it won’t be supported in Piped. You can make an issue on GitHub though, it will just be labeled as ‘requires NPE changes’
Ask a search engine, there are sites that will take a URL and spit out the transcript.
