They changed the Timer and it’s annoying.

They got rid of the time when the timer will ring.

Like if I set it to 2 hours and 15 mins, it’ll show something like this timer will ring at 9:00 AM. It doesn’t do that now.

Now if I put 2 hrs, it says it’ll ring 2 hrs from now in the preview… No really?

I think they fixed alerts issue with the Timer. It used to default to Radial if you used Siri to start a timer even when the in-app setting was set to something else. Now when I start a timer from Siri it uses the alert sound that have chosen. And when selecting an alert it now shows “(Default)” next to my selection whereas previously that default indicator would remain on Radial.

Not sure if this is what you’re referring to, but you can click on the timer in the app and it’ll go back to the old screen and display a time for when it’ll go off. I agree that it’s super annoying because I use a timer for my lunch at work and I keep forgetting when I need to be back

Things like this is why I don’t update.

It’s not just an Apple thing, though they are the worst offender, especially because you can’t roll back iOS updates. But with nearly every piece of software I work with now, updating is always one step forward, two steps back. I just want it to keep working the way it’s working.

And before anyone jumps in and says “but… but… what about security updates???” to that I say, fuck it. With my threat model I don’t need it, and I’d rather take whatever the minimal risk is than deal with my software constantly getting more aggravating with every update. What point is there in keeping software up-to-date if it stops working the way you need it to?

I really dislike this change. Before medication reminders would have a loud follow up remind that would scare the shit out of me. Now I keep forgetting about the notification

Again, I just don’t understand why Apple always feels needs to break something that wasn’t broken

I have no problem hearing the new sound. I think it’s a much bigger deal that you can no longer choose ringtones for alert sounds or alert sounds for ringtones.

Imagine having your phone make noise in 2023.

I figure if I ever want to be beeped at all day, I’ll get a pager. They still sell those all over.

The biggest deal, at least for me, is that you can’t have a “vibration only” alarm without having vibration enabled everywhere.

Before they removed them, I was already surprised at how quiet they are. So easy to not hear

The real problem is when you have a mag safe charger and you connect the iPhone, it plays a really loud sound that you cannot change.
