I’m seriously considering switching from my Google Pixel to the new iPhone, but I have one major concern: do iPhones not have front-facing cameras? I’ve noticed that almost every selfie I see on Instagram is taken using a mirror in someone’s room or bathroom, and I’m starting to worry that I won’t be able to take selfies anymore if I switch to an iPhone.

Is this just a weird coincidence, or is there something I’m missing? Do iPhones really not have front-facing cameras? If not, why do so many people seem to be using mirrors to take selfies?

You’ve posted all about your iPhones in the past. Pretty sure you should know by now, idiot.

No they don’t. You need a mirror and then point the back camera at you when doing video calls too.

iPhones have two front facing cameras, one for taking selfies and a second one in the infrared range for FaceID.

Listen, iPhones don’t have front-facing cameras. Don’t listen to the other comments suggesting that. The reason behind that is, Apple’s target group are professionals, or people with business backgrounds. People who usually get dressed in the morning and take a good look in the mirror, so they know what they look like. Therefore, and to save cost, the selfie cam was never introduced to iphone series phones. Hope this helps, feel free to reach out if you have any further questions!

    u/catgirlishere…yup… i’ve heard of that one too…

Weird thing is that, I also heard that newer iphones can be unlocked with your face… it’s called face id…

Then I got thinking… how does the iphone see your face??? hmmm

I’ve spent many nights losing sleep over it… can’t get an answer … nope didn’t think on a google search on that one… the internet is wrong and I don’t trust it…

Maybe iphones have Lidar built into them?.. or a wave-lenght-other-radar-type sensor… that constructs an image based on sonnar type signal bouncing of your face back to the phone and builds a face picture from that information???.. still don’t know…

man this is a mistery and I hope you find the answer to that question… and when you do, make sure you come back and let me know!

    Update:

yes!!!.. iphones have a front face camera dating all the way since the iPhone 3g (that is the second gen iphone todate) ; )
