Got rid of all the Roku Ultras in my house and switched to Apple TVs. I’m using the Apple TV remote for TV power and after the first day or so there’s a huge delay in how long it takes to turn on the TV. Seems to be close to 30 seconds. I tried switching the control method from HDMI to IR for the Apple TV and that didn’t improve the delay. Any thoughts?
Lack of rigid standards for HDMI CEC means things can be a little janky from one device to another. You may have to dig into every setting and experiment. I know my tv has an option labeled something like “fast startup”.
If the Apple TV wakes (light on) when you click the remote, it’s running. Need to figure out why it’s taking the tv so long to respond to input. Switching to IR is probably not the answer. As long as your tv is less than 5 years old and not some bargain basement brand, HDMI CEC should work.
One of my tvs is 12 years old. It still starts up instantly with the latest Apple TV. It’s a Bravia 50ish inch full HD. So the problem maybe something else maybe the brand or quality of the hdmi cable. Never had to turn any setting on for this
