I am trying to get my parents setup on a single remote configuration, the Apple TV’s remote as primary. The interface on their current tv is awful and laggy so I promised them an upgrade. I have the same setup with an LGTV and I can power on/off the TV itself with the Apple TV remote and it immediately goes to the correct input.
For some reason, I cannot get the remote to function this way with their TV (this is an Amazon “smart” TV). Through the actual TV I have enabled “HDMI-CEC Device Control”. The Apple TV is set to “ON” for “Control TVs and Receivers”. In another attempt to get it to work, I have changed the actual TV to “Power On” to “Last Input (Apple TV).
My parents are loving the picture quality and ease of use with the Apple TV interface but it has yet to resolve the issue of working the TV with a single remote.
Any suggestions about how I can get the Apple TV remote to turn on/off the actual TV?
Thanks so much!
