The sad part is the things poking through the screen were designed as leaf springs to keep from the screen pressing onto the components. at least that’s what it looks like.
So they were to cheap to put in a metal shield between components and screen.
Pennies in quantities of millions adds up, but that is why you just up the price of the phone $5 and no one cares.
They did that too, several times.
