so i’m a newcastle united fan and we were robbed in overly long extra time, where the referee only ended when psg equalised, crushing our hopes of knockout UCL but we are very likely to secure europa league football, thing is though, i’m not exactly keen on swapping out playing milan and dortmund for maccabi haifa and sheriff tiraspol, anyone relate or able to convince me to be motivated about europa league?

Can’t relate to it at all. The years of being in the football doldrums and then finally qualifying for UCL and the first sign of failure and you react like this? What did you think Newcastle were going to do in their first year? Talk about entitled

PSG Dominated the game, they couldve scored 3-4 goals . Your hope is that PSG Draw or lose to Dortmund and Newcastle beat milan at home.

EL might be NU’s way to make it to CL next season. Making top 4 isn’t gonna be easy with Spuds, Utd, Brighton, Villa breathing down your neck.

You might be right about the lengthy extra time but you were fortunate to get away with a draw given PSG had dominated possession and had more than 30 shots compared to your 7. I agree with you re Europa League. It’s kind of a nothing competition.

Lol. You trolling? You think supporters of someone like Leyton Orient or Scunthorpe can’t get it up for the EFL trophy because they’re playing non-exciting competition? The quality may be higher in some competitions but quality of players does not effect how exciting the games are. Exciting games can come from anywhere.

If you support a team you’re supposed to be excited for all their matches.

      This.

Absolute peak entitled, spoilt, oil money, sport washer behaviour.

Waaah we got beaten by another oil rich club, I don’t want us to play with the poor teams.

Especially when winning the Europa League could well be Newcastle’s best chance to get back into the Champions League next season. They are far from guaranteed another top 4 spot but realistically could beat pretty much anyone in the EL in knockout football.

Does winning the Europa League still guarantees you a spot for the CL with the new system?

That’s a good point, not sure if the new structure will change that or not. It would be stupid if not as for teams playing in the UEL and UECL the opportunity to qualify for the next tournament up is a bigger prize than the actual trophy or prize money awarded.

This has to be a bait post.

Not very long ago we were watching them and supporting them play in the championship.

Mate, this is your team’s first European season in fucking donkeys years. If you refuse to watch a competition that your team can get a deep run into while playing against similar stature opponents and historical clubs, you’re mental. In the knockouts you could be playing the likes of Rangers, Olympiacos, Sporting Lisbon, etc. Massive clubs with history is surely something you could get excited for?

Just comes off like you’re sulking about getting unlucky from a dodgy decision, enjoy the journey because it may be a one in a lifetime experience. I got to see my lifelong team (Rangers) get to the Europa League Final beating Leipzig and Dortmund and it will live with me for the rest of my life. Sitting in the same seat as my first ever time watching Rangers against Queen’s Park after we got demoted to the bottom of Scottish Football

You barely beat relegation less than 2 years ago and yet now you’re moaning about European football? Are you well?

“i’m not exactly keen on swapping out playing milan and dortmund for maccabi haifa and sheriff tiraspol”

That’s like bitching about the FA Cup because Weymouth were in it (and got knocked out long before your team entered the competition).
