Yup it’s obvious, they want to be in the service industry. They want to be the Spotify of video games. Subscription services make a lot of money.

With game streaming tech improving it’s eventually going to happen. Everyone wants the best experience, very few want to bother buying a top of the line PC and continuously upgrade it. And currently, that’s the only way to experience these games at their best without using a streaming service. Consoles are essentially obsolete when they are released.

We thought streaming services would never overtake cable and DVDs. We were wrong. We thought people would always buy records, we were wrong there too.

Streaming for gaming being the standard is inevitable, and Microsoft, by owning a good amount of the studios making games, is in a good position to pounce on it. The other player, NVIDIA, doesn’t even make any games.

It’s surprising to me that Sony isn’t competing with Microsoft in this end right now. As far as I know, you can only access psnow on PlayStations.

The economics of scale are gonna be huge but imagine if gamepass enters mobile market where the mobile only games are gamepass exclusive. Cant even imagine the amount of money they will make.
