Everytime I start a game that has a story or progress or something like that (and I mean not games that are easy to get into and not complicated at all like fps games but I mean something more complex) and don’t play it for some time I have such a hard time to play it again.

I mean an example is stardew valley or botw or even a minecraft world I started I can (these are just examples I remember off the top of my head there are more). I haven’t played stardew valley in such a long time and I payed money for it and I know how amazing of a game it is but I can’t get back to it becauseI feel overwhelmed or something and that I can’t remember where I am or what I’m supposed to do, so I feel like just restarting but I don’t really want to do that also because I have progress.

Does anyone else have something similar and know how I can get myself to come back to the games that are like this?

Was literally talking about this with a friend yesterday.

Depending on the game you could see if it has a journal function of some sort that serves as a reminder, or perhaps an extras area where you can watch unlocked story sequences. (All story driven games should have some sort of reminder system IMHO.) Other than that watching some Let’s Plays could help jog your memory.

Barring all that I have just started playing a game again and the story slowly came back to me as I continued to progress. In a few cases I totally started the game over from scratch.
