I really like using KeepassXC on a computer. On Android, I found KeepassDX to be the best client. But the last commit was from March and it confuses me. Do you think the project was abandoned or just a person took a break from development?

neither, there was a commit just last week in a feature branch , also you only linked to the apps icon and not their main page.
As far as I know it’s still in development. However there don’t really add new features so the commits won’t be often.
Alternatively look at 1Password if you want the best best password manager money can buy.
