Howdy /m/SC.
First off, i’d like to apologize for basically disappearing, lifes been doing its best to be a hassle. I have stepped down from /r/SC as a mod as well, but apparently since I “own” this community I can’t exactly do that here.
SO.
With that being the case, It’s time we get more active mods on the scene here to start making this community more of a functional entity.
I was reached out to and told that this was being discussed by the community already, so hopefully this is a straight forward enough process.
Since this is a new community, and there isn’t a precedent for this yet I figure we let the community itself have a hand in choosing.
To start, we will open the floor to nominations, either yourself or someone you feel deserves the spot in helping lead and continue shaping what this community will become.
If interested in nominating please comment on this post with the following:
-
Username (With link to profile preferred)
-
An explanation for why the person you are nominating should be chosen. If nominating yourself, provide some background on your experience moderating a community or helping lead a group.
We will leave discussion open for at least a week: 7/20/2023 - 7/27 2023 and hopefully have a functional mod team in place by the start of August.
@TellumSiege has been posting a ton of the content here. They’re basically already doing the live thread stuff so I think they’d be a good choice.
ETA: They also seem to have a good vibe and are really invested in the success of this place. I think we can trust them to help maintain the positive atmosphere we’ve cultivated here.
Also - glad things are going a bit easier for you.
I’d second this, provided they’re interested in the role. They’ve been doing a wonderful job kick-starting activity into the magazine and taking the reigns in getting all the threads started, much better of a job than I could dream of doing.
“No, you’re breathtaking!”
Thanks for the praise, gang. I’m very easy when it comes to modship. To be honest, if I were to mod, I’d rather have low-level powers and responsibilities. Just the ability to pin important threads, comments, and delete the odd troll/android enhancement ad is more than enough for me. I’d happily leave the admin stuff to people with experience…or who have a much better idea of what that involves.
And to the current mods: thanks for coming back and caring enough to do this. We’re a small community compared to the places you’ve modded in the past– but I really feel this place is a “quality over quantity” situation. We have some great people here, and the makings of what could be an awesome wrestling community.
I don’t think kbin has much in the way of power privileges right now so it’s sorta get what you get, but we can figure things out as we go.
Like stated, I basically can’t leave so I’m happy to handle the “admin” side of things.
Whatever works for you. The last thing I want to do is step on anyone’s toes.
On-line stuff aside, I hope life is starting to settle down. You have my ear if you need it (that offer goes for all of you marks).
Definitely thirding this. Thought they were already a mod tbh.
Any suggestions, comments, thoughts, feelings, or concerns? Please post them as a response to this comment, or DM me directly.
You were a good mod. Hope life get easier.
One of the goodest.
Well this is another vote for @TellumSiege@kbin.social :)
They’re always active here and whenever we interact, they’re always super nice!
Another vote for @TellumSiege who has been doing a great job keeping the nightly show threads.
I’ll throw my pointy moon and star adorned hat into the ring if you need another mod besides Tellum seems to be the obvious choice.
I’m an active user here and a self driven person who wants what’s best for the place. I was able to (IMHO) bring up the delicate subject about our mod situation, and reach out in a way that got results hopefully without ruffling too many feathers. I feel like these are valuable skills to have when helping to manage and guide discussion in a productive manner.
I am also a technically inclined person as displayed by finding the git for Kbin and looking into their dev roadmap for mod/admin functions. I like the idea of us not being in the dark or caught unaware of platform updates and the new features that we could take advantage of in the future.
Also just yesterday a co-worker said “Wow, you really like wrestling.” So there’s that.
