I kinda get irrationally angry with anyone listening to any video audibly anywhere near any other sentient being at all in any context.

    Like, wtf

I once got lectured by my dad how I’m the one being selfish and entitled, and how I try to restrict his freedom and comfort during family time, when I tell him to watch videos on mute, or get himself ear plugs, this was in a hotel restaurant might I add.

Jesus fucking christ, the level of anger I felt took me all the way back to being a teenager, I was very close to throwing a tantrum and going to my room without eating.

        EXACTLY! YOU GET IT EXACTLY

like, I know somehow that if ol pappy was my age in this time, he’d be on my side about this. I can feel it in my bones.

But he’s ancient now so him and the kids both try to blast whatever stupid video they come across and wonder why anyone would object to having their ears violated.

And don’t even get me started if I somehow hear a FUCKING AD??! In 2024?

Sorry it annoys you, I don’t like headphones.

Edit: the entire world is not the bus or cafe you were momentarily annoyed in. Cry about it more.

Sorry you were never taught common courtesy. Your preferences are not license to force others to listen to your crap. Do that in your own home not in public.

As long as a can’t hear it in my home. IT’S AN 80 YEAR OLD APARTMENT, THE WALLS ARE MADE OF GLORIFIED CARDBOARD INSULATED WITH NEWSPAPER, A SUBWOOFER IS JUST NOT AN OPTION, YOU NOODLE.

Apartments are not homes. They are glorified cardboard boxes in a better location than the alley.

Wow, that must feel real nice to read if you’ve been living in apartments all your life.

You misunderstand. This is a matter of standards and not remotely a judgment upon the folks trapped in the situation.
Apartments are, for the most part in the US at least, very poorly regulated such that they are figurative card board boxes and not homes. The serfs, oh sorry Wage Slaves, don’t own their accommodations and thus it isn’t a their home any more than the person in a cardboard box in a back alley. The construction is barely thicker and certainly no more private than the cardboard box in the back alley. People deserve better.

Damn, I didn’t realize it was such a sin to play a video on my phone at a park.

Crazy how narrow your worldviews are.

Edit: btw, I never said I didn’t wait until I was alone.

No it definitely is your problem, if you’re in a public space like a park and hearing someone play a video on their phone tilts you then uh… that’s what I would define as unstable.

Until someone comes and takes your phone to throw it in the bush because you’re being an asshole, then it’s your problem.

If I wanted to hear music I would go see a show, of I wanted to watch a movie or documentary I would watch one at home, if I wanted to watch a tiktok influencer I would throw myself off a bridge.

Wear headphones, you share this world with others, it’s basic courtesy not to impose yourself or your taste in entertainment on them.

When I hear someone browsing TikTok videos, it just sounds like 5 second commercials to me. It’s quite annoying to listen to.

I just need instagram to have a mute button so i don’t accidentally trigger the audio when it fails to register a double tap.

I hate that shit with a passion.

truly, no harsh noise project can ever approach the sheer auditory torture of existing in the same room as someone scrolling tiktok, like professional bad sound engineers couldn’t make a listening experience this unpleasant if they tried

I have my doubts because I’ve listened to ‘little drummer boy’ played by an amateur bagpipe band in what’s basically a parking garage.

If I were motivated to do so, I could set up a room microphone while having someone browse TikTok, then compress the shit out of the recording to bring out the details, and make harsh noise out of that recording.

So I think noise musicians can approach the auditory torture of existing in a room with a TikTok viewer, but as a gesture of goodwill have held back their full power…

nah it’s the performance that gives it the extra oomph.

With noise music I can just, turn it off, and the track has a set length and will end eventually.

Person scrolling tik tok next to you? Feels awkward to approach them and tell them to stop. Some videos loop a short tune, some videos just keep looping as they read the text on the screen, obnoxious constant high energy voices beam from the speakers, and there is no end in sight, no rest, you never know if their next video has a wall of text forcing you to listen to the same sentence/melody 10 times in a row, or if they’ll skip something mid sentece. It’s a constant auditory nightmare

Fights like this is why we’ll never be much better than reddit like obviously this all depends on context and you fucks are trying to paint anyone who listens to anything in a public area as a shit heel. Like ok guess I’ll just be silent forever to not risk pissing off the dude scrolling through Reddit walking past while thinking about how I’m the cause for all the worlds problems. All of you, just grow the fuck up

Promise? We’ll all be way happier than we would be listening to your dumb ass scroll through spyware with your sound on like a boomer listening to all the ringtones on his Nextel. Buy some headphones, they’re really cheap.
