You mean Russia, and critically at that, mostly because it serves as a bulwark for China against NATO.

Pootin himself has greatly improved life in Russia and re-nationalized some industries, but he’s also made anti-Lenin remarks in the past and supported an anti-LGBT bill back in 2013.

Yeah? Lmao if you go even slightly past western propaganda you can see that poverty has more than halved on his first tenure as president cuz he followed through with his academic paper on how Russia could recover from the USSR’s dissolution that he wrote the year before, increased the country’s purchasing power by 72%, GDP increased consistently, and he reversed the mass privatizations forced on Russia by the west in the shock “therapy”.

He has an over 75% approval rating and keeps getting elected in Russia for a reason: people have directly felt the massive improvement in quality of life under his presidency. It is decreasing in recent years though so he’s clearly starting to outlive his usefulness.

I’d recommend this book on the topic if you’re curious.

Half of 100% is still 50% lol. When you compare Russia’s progress with that of the world in general, in line with technological improvements, it becomes clear that Russia has been inhibited by Putin’s policies and is lagging behind.

Thank you for the book reference though. I’ll have to dig to find a version I can access, but I’ll add it to the list of disaster capitalist books I should read to figure out what the villains of the world are doing, alongside those of William Rees-Mogg.
