I’ve been using Opera for a few years now, ever since my brother recommended it to me, and I’ve been enjoying its features, UI and everything. However, I (surprisingly to me) haven’t noticed many people mentioning it. Also, when I was on Reddit and mentioned that I use it I got downvoted which left me somewhat confused haha.

So I’m wondering if there’s anything wrong with it and/or if I should give another browser a go (I noticed Firefox is mentioned a ton on here)

Nothing is wrong with it, people just tend to downvote if they don’t agree with someone’s choices.

I personally use Firefox, but only because I don’t like chromium based web engines

Try Vivaldi. It’s from the original opera people and has many more features. Iirc couple years ago opera was sold to some Chinese company and stopped using its own engine which caused its popularity to decline. It’s not that it’s a bad browser, but aside from the performance limiter function they keep advertising for gx, it’s pretty much obsoleted by Vivaldi imo.

Give firefox a go as well. Vivaldi has lots of cool features, but if you don’t really use them switching to Firefox is a better choice simply because it’s not a chromium based browser.

Opera browser was sold to a Chinese consortium of investors led by Beijing Kunlun Tech Co and Qihoo 360 in 2016 for US$600 million. The deal included the browser, the consumer business, and the Opera brand.
