I ended up picking out Tunic as my Game of the Year, when at first it only seemed like a mild Zelda-like. There’s certainly other trashy games out there I’ve enjoyed, such as Neoverse, a deck-building Roguelike (no longer on there anymore), Rune Factory, Battletoads.

Someday I’ll gather a 4p crowd to play some of the couch games, which are relatively few on Game Pass but generally pretty decent. I think a lot of people would be up for Halo splitscreen.

I played Tunic 4 times, almost in a row, it was that good. Just a fantastic game. Also found it on gamepas.

Hi-Fi rush was another gem I didn’t expect to find through GP.

Spiritfarer, which I actually bought so I could keep playing it.

Tinykin - which was an absolute blast. As dusk falls - good idea that didn’t really work. Atomic heart - stunning design with so so gameplay. Guardians of the galaxy - real surprise hit with this one. Way more fun than I expected. Hifi rush - another left field surprise drop that really delivers. High on life - a great fps exploration platform / shooter with a genuinely funny story. Inside - dark as hell side scrolling puzzle platformer. Prodeus - really fun doomish boomer shooter. Psychonauts 2 - turned out to be hands down my game of the year. Scorn - I wanted to like this so badly but damn that motion sickness killed it for me. Slay the spire - I’m not a deck builder fan at all but this kinda hooked me. Superliminal - scratched my Douglas Adams / stanley parable itch. Supraland - the Minecraft aesthetic put me off but it turned out to be a great little puzzle platformer. Really enjoyed the first one. The follow up 6 inches under is proving to be more obscure with the puzzles and the game is buggy as hell. Life Is Strange: True Colors - I wasn’t a fan of the previous LIS games but really enjoyed this one. Ghostwire Tokyo - I was initially disappointed when playing the first few hours but then the 90s Japan horror vibe hooked me and I couldn’t stop playing.

Side note for gamepass - if you haven’t played It Takes Two or the Yakuza series, do yourself a favour and jump on them now
