I got interested in roundcore rounds since I kinda like the more mellow sound but I don’t really enjoy the always dead sound of flats. I also heard roundcores felt more flexible or balanced tension wise and that’s very appealing to me. So does any one of you have experience with any of these strings? How would you describe their sound vs a hexcore for example? And considering I play med gauge (45-105) could I go a gauge up for a bit higher tension and better low end clarity?

I have GHS Bass Boomers and I like them. They’re not to zingy, slightly soft and smooth for an easy slide.

I’ve tried DR HighBeams (I don’t have any experience with Sunbeams) and I hated them : hard as cables and harsh for your fingers. Soundwise, they were average.

Thanks for replying. Funnily enough, I bought Bass Boomers three days ago because I couldn’t find the roundcores anywhere. And while I do like the feel that you are describing, my A and G string are both dead after maybe 6 hours of playing only. Like crazily muted compared to the other two. I’m not impressed to be honest but I might still try a set of roundcores if I can find some somewhere else than on Amazon.

And maybe the issue with the DR was that HI-beams are stainless. In my exprerience those are just like you describe. That’s why I was interested in the Sunbeams which are nickel. The roundcore part is also what I’m mostly interested in hearing about. But thanks anyway for your response.
