A Myrtle warbler was seen last week in a garden in Kilwinning, Ayrshire, and people from as far as Cornwall have journeyed to see it. There has been a reported total of fewer than 30 sightings of the Myrtle warbler in the UK.

As a result, the latest finding in Scotland has sent bird-lovers into a frenzy. The last time the elusive bird was spotted on the UK mainland was in 2014 in County Durham.

Photographer and bird enthusiast Stevie Clarke commented: “My birder friend Jimmy Crawford first spotted it on Tuesday, February 20.” He added: “Since then he has kindly allowed bird watchers and photographers to come and see this rare beauty.”
