I had a good Sunday lunch at the pub and a relaxed afternoon yesterday, have a relatively sane looking week lined up at work and then out for an outdoor Shakespeare play (rain permitting) on Friday.

Toddler had a rough night last night, and now the eldest has walked downstairs sneezing and coughing. Guess we’re about to have our third family cold in the last 6 weeks.

    Urgh.

From an outsider perspective, I did basically nothing at all this weekend. Stayed in, wore pyjamas, watched tv and pottered on my laptop.

But really we finished catching up on all Futurama ever so now we can watch the new episodes. I made good progress on making my game dev project a bit prettier. And I made a spreadsheet of everything we need to pack for holiday on Friday including how many craft projects I can justify taking. Might have to leave the Steam Deck home though, alas. Also fixed a bit of fraying on some me-made giant palazzo pants.

So really it was a productive weekend, just not from anyone else’s point of view!

Absolutely dreading this week. Quite apart from the laundry juice incident I already made a post about, it’s just gonna be hectic trying to get everything ready for hols while also getting ahead of myself work-wise. I spy some late nights incoming.

(Just as I went to hit post, some ridiculous noise started up from next door. Some kind of sanding tool perhaps? It’s very loud and kind of whiney and oh lord this is gonna be a bad day)

Thanks, I’ve done a few tiny game jam type games but this is my first attempt to make something “real” so we’ll see. It’s an interesting learning curve in a new engine, if nothing else!

Outdoor Shakespeare play? How delightfully English.

Spoiled some nieces, slept a whole bunch, drank some wine, watched some films, all in all pretty chilled and decent.

This week our wee dog gets an operation for his cruciate ligament so that’s the priority.

TV’s backlight died a couple of days ago and I’m waiting for the replacements to arrive (hopefully tomorrow), might be a bugger to fix but it’s worth a shot anyway (only a £20 part and if I can’t fix it it’s going in the bin and being replaced anyway).

Otherwise, family from abroad are staying nearby this week so we’ll be taking them around the area!

I’m going back to work today after a week off driving around the backwoods of NY, VT and NH. I drank good wine and locally made whiskey, ate some damn good food, climbed mountains and swam in lakes… it was a great vacation. That said, I could use another week off to recover from my vacation.

I got two things accomplished this weekend, while I was hoping to get one or the other done. I got my project car to run and move under its own power again (now I need to replace some of the bulbs and a signal flasher) and I got my 3d printer to work again.

Not a bad start! Listening to some entirely age (40) inappropriate tunes (drum and bass) in the car this morning gave me a nice buzz. Really digging Nia Archives tunes atm

Who said DnB is inappropriate for a 40 year old? As a 43 year old, that is the music of my youth. I I’ll frequently put Dieselboy, AK1200 or Roni Size on during my morning commute.

I would usually have been feeling a little bit Mondayish, but we’re heading out to the Edinburgh Fringe this Thursday for a week so I’m only in the office for the next three days. Going to make the most of it. First real ‘vacation’ I’ve had in ages, even if it is domestic travel.

Not sure yet, I’ve got the day off to spend with my 13y daughter. But only started a new job 2 weeks ago and now fretting about missing emails. Stupid I know. We are heading out to a zoo soon in the rain, hopefully that will clear my head so I can enjoy time with her.

Im currently loving my job so I’m one of those annoying people who don’t mind Mondays. Had a bit of a wild weekend though so don’t feel on top form!

Which play is it you’re going to see

Crap start to morning this end. I’m up and down all night - about every hour since 4am so I’m shattered. Got up at half 7 and I’ve been lying here feeling sorry for myself. Can’t even take today off either, boooo.

I’m guessing A Midsummer Night’s Dream, based on the fact I remembered the title of that one.

The play is A Winter’s Tale so a bit odd for the time of year, but the weather might be fitting…

Hope that you get through the day OK one way or another.

Cheers! Stopped feeling sorry for myself and the day suddenly got much better lol!

Haven’t seen a performance of A Winters Tale that’ll be awesome, hope you have a good one!
