Like a photograph issued from Buckingham Palace, the weekend is gone, and it’s time to regale us with tales of what you’ve been playing over the last few days. And more importantly, do you think it’s any good?
Balatro. So much Balatro.
It’s addictive, but in all the good(?) ways. Lots of “just one more run” potential.
I tried this game because everyone is going on about it and I bounced off it so hard that it made me question everything I thought I knew…
Okay so I’m not a big poker guy, and I really struggled with the feeling that I wasn’t playing it correctly (little things like not knowing any hands). Real shame because it seems like the sort of game that people are going to be playing for months and months.
F1 Manager 2023 has been consuming my life, and is continuing its refusal to let its grip on my attention span slip.
It’s not even the deepest management sim out there (far from it actually) but the difficulty on Hard Mode provides just enough challenge to make me desperate to overcome Red Bull’s domination.
I’m already looking forward to the 2024 iteration, though I’m sad it will probably be the last. It’s unfortunate the first game had a few too many issues, the 2023 version is quite decent entertainment if you like F1, and I think given the trajectory between the games this series could have ended up quite good in a few years.
You playing on PC? I wonder how It works on a controller (if at all).
I am on PC yes. It does at least work on controller since it is also available on consoles. I think it would be in the acceptable -to-fine range or playability. You can pause races to change anything that needs changing so you won’t suffer performance wise. It’s just going to be a little clunky, just like anything that involves heavy menu navigation will be on controller.
More Deep Rock Galactic Survivors for me. The game got Deck verified and whilst it’s still in Early Access I’m having such a good time that I’ve sidestepped my usual ‘ill play this when it’s released’ policy.
I’ve also spent a little time with Slay The Spire, a game I’d somehow decided wasn’t for me over the last five or so years. Turns out that it was for me, and I’m a silly billy for thinking otherwise.
My mate gifted me Ratopia and I gotta say I’m enjoying it. Not as much as he seems to, but it’s a good city sim!
