on the subject in hand, the article is about people who can charge at home. Im unable to work out the equivalent month of the year but I can say I worked out the cost equivalent over the weekend and per mile at an average of 4.0 miles per KW, the 75p per KW you find at Osprey or Gridserve (75%4= 18.75p per mile) is not better than petrol at £52 for 37l (8 gallon tank) at average 40mpg £52=320 miles.

    EV 320 miles at 18.75p £57. Petrol 320 miles at £52.

however, if you use rapid chargers at 65p (16.25p) £52 and if you use a service like Elli or Bonnet 43p = 10.75p £34 (not including the cost of the service which is £5 or £13 a month). As long as you can charge for under 65p you will be beating the petrol cost. Wether it happens in august or february.

happy to have my maths corrected!

Yeah, it’s so much better if you can charge at home.

My energy provider currently charges 10p per kwh overnight (very much not in the day!).

I drive about 60 miles a day for under £15 a week (motorway and city traffic). That used to be over £60 a week at the petrol station, so I guess I should celebrate in late March.

I think I would use less energy if I didn’t enjoy that deliciously rapid electric acceleration so much!

I think the article is an average, but August is much later than me. Perhaps if I wasn’t on an EV tariff it would be August.
