This results in the server CPU staying around 70% even spiking over 90%. So I will upgrade the VPS from 4cpu/16GB to 8cpu/32GB.

What is the plan when the new VPS gets overloaded in a few hours? What happens if this instance becomes popular and has 50k users a day?
Then I move it to a dedicated server, like I did with mastodon.world which has 164k users and had over 100k active users at it’s peak.

How is the funding? Do you need help? Will this be a long term project?
Funding is still OK but we might need to upgrade the server again soon. Links for funding are on the homepage sidebar. I don’t quit this server as long as it’s used. If I ever get tired of it I hand it over.
I was thinking of starting my own server first and host it on hetzner or digitalocean because I have good experience with those and they’re easy to scale. Anyway I’m here now and it’s better to see this one grow :) If I can help in any way let me know.

I can’t change my password, it just loads and never finishes. Anything you can fix or we have to wait for the Lemmy devs to fix it?
For me it works? Perhaps you entered the wrong old password? Lemmy isn’t great at displaying error messages yet…
