Playing devil’s advocate here - we know voice information is being sent back to both Google and Apple, if the analysis were done server side dissembling apps isn’t going to show us anything we don’t already know.

While I do suspect they listen, I have pretty solid (anecdotal) evidence they scan text messages. When I bought my house I had no solicitor, I text my buddy to see who he used and he texted me a response.
Started to type into Google to get a number and it was the top suggested search after 2 chars. Nowhere else did I mention this solicitor, hadn’t heard of them before this, have no other searches for this solicitor. It’s not a big firm, it’s not even in my city - only explanation I have is they scanned the messages.
Isn’t it mostly a reimplementation of the windows API? Where do we draw the distinction?
The baffling thing is why, they have no time to enjoy the money. Money is a means to an end. “I want my kids to have a better life”, “I want to retire early” etc etc may be worth working yourself to the bone for, but in reality these are the same people that never see their kids and plan to work until they die.
Very memorable performance, lead deserved an Oscar nom at the very least.
Second one it’s one thing to be a corpo asshat, it’s quite something else to actually regress medicine
My perspective is BT is probably fine as it is, as you say popular movies are everywhere, that won’t change. Rare older stuff is what tends to get lost when trackers disappear (doubly so for private trackers) and they’re the thing that benefits from more seeders. Is your average casual going to be seeding a vintage Linux ISO? I doubt it. Popular ISOs are going to be well enough seeded to to saturate just about any connection as it stands and ratio enforcement on privates should take care of people who like 15 year old Ubuntu livecds and the like. I just don’t see any upside to BT being more mainstream.
Let the streaming sites and dodgy boxes have all the glory with the casuals and take the hit when the MPAA come knocking, no?
And you see this as an improvement?
Again, not saying bittorrent is going anywhere - just that going super mainstream isn’t making anything better. Ask people who were around during the heyday how much better torrenting has gotten since the likes of OG Demonoid, mininova, supernova, KAT, aXXo, YIFY even Rarbg got shut down or left the scene.
And when all the good trackers disappear how’re you planning on making those connections?
Okay, nobody’s saying there isn’t a workaround, I’m saying torrenting becoming more mainstream isn’t good for pirates.
Right, a workaround because bit torrent is no longer as useful - more work for everyone, change in tech, meanwhile the best trackers get taken out, users need to switch up trackers constantly, content gets fragmented, quality drops, old torrents get lost or everyone is left wondering wtf to do for 6-12 months until the new new thing takes over. Remind me why this is a good thing?
Don’t sweat it, it’s just a bunch of pixies running around for 9 hours.
Yeah, year 0 doesn’t exist, it goes 1BC -> 1AD
Sure, if you want more active work to block torrenting.
I’d been comparing them to the models for the Quake mod Quake rally some time, I actually went to verify that I was remembering Quake Rally correctly and now I have to stop because the 90s video game mod had higher poly counts.
That’s not a bright side
Edit, for those downvoting, you realise if there’s more torrenting there’ll be more incentive to stop torrenting
It probably does, it’s just not relevant to what we’re talking about.
Ooh gnu/Hurd, I heard that was coming out soon.
