  • Yep, their jerboa app is really bad I hear. We recommend people install lemmy as a web app on their phone: https://burggit.moe/post/2411 << there’s a post on how to do that, if by chance you didn’t see it.

I too have noticed the adding instances via the search button doesn’t always play ball, sometimes I have to wait awhile and other times I straight up have to try a few times. Though to be fair, Lemmy had very minimal usage until just recently. The devs are no doubt kicking it into high gear to try and meet the new demand.

  • To be 100% fair, Lemmy does not have the best most intuitive federation in the world, it’s definitely something you have to get used to. A lot of other federated projects make federation way easier to stumble into others and vice versa, where you’d really have to try super hard not to stumble across other people, and even then, you’d probably fail. Though, I don’t exactly know how Lemmy would implement that sort of federation, while keeping the reddit-esc layout.

There are very few games I can really sit back and enjoy alone. For me, gaming has turned into almost exclusively a social activity, with some rare exceptions here and there.

But when there is a game I can vibe with on my own, those are always the best!

I’d say I do 90% of my gaming on Linux. There’s really only a very small number of games I have to use Windows for, and recently have just been going without. To be fair though, I’m also not the biggest gamer in the world, only playing a few games with friends every now and then.

Apple used code for a project called WINE which is a compatibility layer that allows Windows games and applications to run on Linux. Apple used this to make their new Game Porting Toolkit to allow Windows games to run on IOS/OSX. Since WINE is free and open-source software, Apple can freely use the code. WINE survives on donations, apple did not donate, despite profiting off of and using a huge chunk of the WINE codebase.
