I didn’t used to be as impressed as I am now by the fact that women this beautiful actually exist, and I still wouldn’t be were it not for the present uncanny valley of so-called AI. Neural networks tasked with the depiction of the most beautiful women imaginable, for obvious reasons, do so based on the most beautiful women who have already been imaged. The models just keep getting progressively better, objectively, the more data on which they’re trained, and the more parameters they have, and whatnot; their work product (if we’re even calling it that), contrariwise, just keeps getting progressively more unnerving, subjectively, at least if you’re asking me personally. I know damned well I’m not the only one whose skin crawls when I see the ostensibly perfect likeness of late actors from beyond the grave, and I highly doubt I’m the only one whose skin crawls when I see pictures of women who have never lived and who look this impossibly gorgeous but only in theory. It feels like the harbinger of some impending dystopia, frankly. I can’t fucking wait.
