  • Oh, I actually thought I deleted this comment since I realized I didn’t really know what I was talking about. But since it’s here, and you took the time to read it; The question that went through my mind is "okay, I know that there’s more to vaping/smoking than just nicotine, but what about chewing tabbaco? Isn’t that nicotine that harms you without the additives from smoking/vaping?

I started with that article, but got lazy and didn’t want to look into it further. Sorry for the confusion.

I’ve only been able to attend a few sessions with an autistic adult focused therapist, and it was very helpful. They did a great job of prioritizing what we could tackle from week-to-week and it was instrumental for me getting my first job after college.

Which is the other thing that would be really great, some kind of resource that could help autistic adults with the job application process. Mostly with how to interact with recruiters, how to set expectations, and specialized interview prep.

  • If you’re doing a peer-to-peer (P2P) related activity, port forwarding is very important for improving speed or enabling the service at all. That’s because your router blocks incoming traffic from certain ports by default, ports that are used for a P2P connection. To get around this, you can ‘forward’ the specific port that is used for the P2P activity you’re using, letting your router know that the traffic you expect to see from a specific port is good to let through.

You can simply leave port forwarding to your personal router, but if you want to stay anonymous while participating in P2P connections, then you’ll want to use a VPN service. If a VPN service doesn’t utilize port forwarding, then any P2P connections you use will either be straight up impossible, or very slow over the VPN. The P2P service you’re attempting to use needs to access a specific port on the VPN’s router, which needs forwarding to work properly. For example, you wanted to host a gaming server without giving away your actual IP address, then a VPN with port forwarding is desirable. The same can be said for torrenting.

TL;DR: VPNS with port forwarding matter if you want to stay anonymous while using P2P services.

  • I kinda get it. I get interrupted by so much random bullshit during the work week, focusing on projects is hard. Much easier to browse social media at work, respond to email, get out occasionally to do chores, etc. Some light productivity, but deeper concentration is hard.

Friday is usually my go-to project day. People tend to leave me alone enough so I can actually dig in. I’m content with my current situation so I don’t feel a need to work on weekends, but I can totally see how that might be more enjoyable. Not working the entire weekend, just a few hours on Saturday morning where no one will fucking bother me. Could probably get so much more shit done in way less time.

  • William Baude of the University of Chicago and Michael Stokes Paulsen of the University of St. Thomas, two legal scholars of the conservative leaning Federalist Society, have concluded that Trumps involvement in the January 6th attempt to overturn the 2020 election should disqualify him from holding any office in the United States via the 14th amendment.

Section 3 of the 14th amendment prohibits anyone who has previously taken an oath of office (Senators, Representatives, and other public officials) from holding public office if they have “engaged in insurrection or rebellion” against the United States. As far as William and Michael are concerned, there doesn’t need to be a new ruling or lawsuit or anything to uphold the 14th amendment. It’s simply currently in force and should prevent Trump from holding office again. What does this mean in real terms? Is this a sign that more establishment Republicans will distance themselves from the current primary front-runner for the Republican nomination? What are your thoughts?

  • Given that Special Counsel Jack Smith is asking for a Jan 2nd 2024 trail date, it’s looking promising that the trail concerning Trumps effort to overturn the 2020 election will have concluded by the time we are casting votes in November 2024.

I know Trump has a pretty fanatical base, but Republicans still need to appeal to a respectable amount of moderates to stand a chance. And odds are looking decent that Trump will be a federal convict, something that I’m sure will be total repellant for said moderates.

Not to mention that Dems should have some really solid issues to campaign on. For instance, if they focus on enshrining abortion rights, that should help to secure some swing states. The most recent result in Ohio is promising in that regard.

I could go on, but I think Biden’s strategy is sound so far. He has some really great stuff that he can focus on other than Trumps crimes. And hopefully some of those crimes will be addressed by the time the general election kicks off anyway.
