One of my teachers just asked if we’re happy about the election. WTF kind of mindfield is this?

All good points but something that I don’t see talked about more is how many Reps voted Early/Absentee this election. In 2020, early voting was 44% Dem with 30% Rep . In 2024, the percentages were almost dead even. I think Democrats saw the early voting results and wrongly assumed that they’d overwhelming go Dem because they did in the past. Because of this, Democrats were expecting a blue surge at the end to help balance out red votes early in the night. This did not materialize.

Other than that, it’s a million small things that any competent campaign could’ve avoided. Don’t alienate the Muslim community, hammer actual policy positions in your questions, have an actual primary instead of a rigged process, etc etc.

If you refuse to vote for Trump then he won’t listen to you after the election. Focus on getting him elected and then protest.

Find a group, do small talk, do the group activity, mention the stuff you’re doing on the weekend, invite them in a low-pressure way.

If they go, you made a friend. If they say no but express polite interest, maybe offer once more next week. Otherwise, keep the small talk and move to the next person.

How hard is it to say “I still think it’s a bad idea but the rest of the bill is worth the cost.” Instead she tries to defend both positions.

Because he was the first in a while to really give red meat to the base. Smarter Republicans view him as a necessary evil in order to rile up support. Then he presided over a relatively okay economy and gave financial support during the pandemic. Most reps view him as a reminder of the pre-pandemic economy who actually tried to appeal to the base. This was done through racism and social issues of course but that’s enough.

There’s also something to be said about his anti-charisma. It’s like the McDonalds dinner for the football guys that twitter liberals went crazy over. Even though it was pretty weird, the average person still likes their McTreats and liberals shitting on it makes them seem out of touch. Donald Trump’s weirdness and anti-charisma reflects the average American. Every attack on his weirdness backfires and mainstream liberals are too brain-broken to try to convince people on policy.

He broke their brains in 2016-2020 and now he literally can’t do any wrong because people hate to admit they were wrong.

There’s a teacher at our college who forces students to write 1000 word essays. Not around 1000, exactly 1000 words or else it’s an automatic zero. This isn’t so bad until you have to write on paper with a time limit and you have to fucking count it by hand.

Literally just ego-tripping bullshit to get people to fail for meaningless mistakes.

Reviewing the Joker II movie:

I didn’t think it was horrible. I thought the musical aspect could have been removed entirely and it would have gone up a point. It’s ultimately true to the spirit of the first movie. If the first movie made Arthur too sympathetic, this movie over corrected that a bit. Arthur is ultimately someone who was failed more than he failed himself. Him more or less saying it’s all his fault at the end just seems weird considering how the inciting incident was mostly forced upon him.

Don’t get me wrong, he’s still a villain at the end of the day, but a tragic one nonetheless. He was thrown into an unwinnable situation, identified with the evil person they painted him as, and used that to justify his crimes.

Believe it or not, there are some things that humans just do because they’re not complete blank slates. It’s like avoiding pain, or having a natural inclination to love parents and family.

The only way your point is true if include genetics as a “material condition” but that doesn’t conflict with what I said.

People that say ideology/social conditions miss the point. While bullying is certainly shaped by these factors, it is just normal human behavior that needs correction.

It exists in all children, regardless of location or culture. It has to do with maintaining social hierarchy and forming groups. Children making friends and children excluding others are just two sides of the same coin of primate social structure. Some people grow out of that but most don’t, they just learn to hide it better. In fact, most bullies go on to live far more successful and fulfilling lives than most people.

Human beings are not inherently good or bad, they are inherently very smart pack animals. At our best, we can come together with millions of different people to complete amazing political/social projects. At our worst we have racism, bullying, and genocide.
