I would argue overused.
I would argue overused.
Because of the musicals? It had a few numbers but I didn’t feel like it dominated.
It’s only boring because it doesn’t really go anywhere.
I was intrigued with the first half of so, but the film does a flip near the end that just takes the film ultimately nowhere.
So, I finally saw it after knowing it reviewed so poorly.
If you just give me the first two thirds or so as the first episode of a miniseries, it’s not too bad.
But the turn away from Joker just didn’t make sense. The complaint seems to be that he just can’t be that person that everyone wants him to be. However we never really see that. Then by the end he seems like he wants to be Joker against, but maybe that’s just to win Lee back.
Just all seemed like a waste.
Happy Love Day Everyone!
Correct!
Supposed release date of Aug. 6, 2025.
Lemonade?
I’m not sure that’s clickbait, just a shitty milestone.
First, the obvious, WINDS!
Second, it’s clear HBO will continue to make Game of Thrones content for many years to come. While I would love for George to write it and HBO to eventually adapt it, I’m confident we’ll get it in one form or another someday.
The interconnected universe is here to stay.
Yeah, The Marvels has problems but importantly (for this example) they aren’t solved in another film or TV show.
I think Captain Marvel having secret friends and enemies all around the galaxy is a green idea. She’s had 30 years to get up to adventures. In some of them she’s a heroic princess. In another she is a horrific destroyer, “The Annihilator”.
But we have the baggage of Monica to handle. And Ms Marvel is the perfect sidekick, so we need to include her and she comes with a family that needs to be explored. Also the Skulls, that’s a huge hanging plotline. At this point the film is full, but also we need a villain… Which ended up being the weakest part of the film. And then they still added the whole Flerkin/cat plotline to an already crowded movie.
Ultimately they just had too much to cover and not enough time.
“You’ll be dead,” Swisher noted, to which Downey replied: “But my law firm will still be very active.”
You can have a will and an estate, but if your estate fucks you over is there anything anyone can do about it?
It all comes down to James Gunn & Peter Safran.
DC was late out of the gate when it comes to shared universes. Initially it’s not their fault, they were wrapping up the Nolan Dark Knight trilogy right around the time the MCU was releasing the Avengers.
It was very clear that DC wanted that Avengers movie and they wanted it yesterday. They brought in Zack Snyder who I think got things off to an ok start, but DC was ready to burn through stories. Superman gets one film and then we have him fight Batman and die off. But don’t worry Justice League next week so he’ll be right back.
Wonder Woman was given a little more room to breathe with her solo film and it shows. Aquaman and Shazam got breathing room of their own, and each of their first films came out ok.
But as soon as those first films were successful they got sequels and a release date long before they had any idea what to do with them. They got sequels because Marvel did sequels, so they would probably work out. Spoiler, they did not.
Then they banked it all on The Flash. The Flash would reset things and they could get it right from the start. Except… Ezra Miller couldn’t be a regular dude and had to be a raging asshole. Now the Flash film we got wasn’t that bad. But it was too little too late.
But luckily for DC, one random Disney executive fucked up. They fired James Gunn over in the public and apologized for content, that was never really that bad to begin with. Disney fixed their mistake, but not before DC scooped him up.
Now my hope is James Gunn and Peter Safran have a good plan. The Suicide Squad was great and Peacemaker was fantastic. Not to mention the Guardians trilogy being one of the best trilogies in the MCU. Hopefully DC studio heads don’t fuck things up.
I get it, we’re in “Superhero Burnout” time. But that’s not really true. People just want good films & TV. Spider-Verse 3? Highly anticipated. Agatha All Along? Nailing it so far. The Penguin? Possibly the best show of the year.
A significant factor facing “Captain America 4” and “Thunderbolts*” is how much they rely on characters and plotlines from several earlier MCU titles
The problem with Return of the Jedi is that you have to watch A New Hope AND Empire Strikes Back first.
With the exception of Multiverse of Madness and Wanda’s children, every film has always made it clear and caught the viewer up. Yes, it helps to have seen the other films and shows, but it’s not the required homework these articles like to claim.
In fact with Captain America 4, you could argue that you need to have seen Cap 1, 2 & 3. However I’ll argue the only film you’ll need to have seen is Endgame. You know the #1 highest grossing film of all time. I think it’s fair to assume people have seen that.
Now with Thunderbolts* we have a whole new cast. But do you remember the 2016 film Suicide Squad? Absolute garbage. But do you remember the 2021 film The Suicide Squad? Great film. The 2021 film had to reintroduce everyone because no one remembers the garbage 2016 one. Did anyone have an issue with that? No.
Now if Thunderbolts* turns out to be garbage it’s not going to be because it requires knowledge of the other films or TV shows, it’s because it will just suck all in its own.
I have no way to put this gently: I cannot conclusively determine which one is more secure.
That’s the only conclusion I would have trusted. Otherwise you should have been awarded the tech equivalent of a Nobel Prize.
Security (and privacy) is not a zero sum game. That isn’t to say we shouldn’t discuss it. That isn’t to say we can’t point out clear advantages.
In any case, I appreciate the write up.
What? Bart is dead.
Well, me saying I’m sorry won’t bring him back.
Correct!
That’s excellent news.
Jon gets his once a week chance to do whatever he wants. It’s clear he has a lot more freedom than he did while on Apple.
Plus it was obvious that Jon left because he wanted the freedom to try new things. He got to do that, and he still has the freedom to do more if he likes. Plus Dec 2025 is a short contract, so he can head off into the world if he finds something that takes more time.
It’s a little bit of a bummer for the existing correspondents, all of whom are ready to take over, and is probably why Roywood Jr left, but another year to get comfy with the role maybe isn’t the worst thing.
after everyone had forgotten
And as a brief note of positivity,

Lol we have that now… just be sure to phrase your question in the form of a Linux distro.
But to be serious I do think we’re heading that way, but it’s going to take a long time, likely as long as it took Reddit (if not longer).
