It’s just kinda boring, honestly. Probably the worst sin a book can commit.

I’ve seen this book recommended in a lot of lists about “page turners” and such, but I absolutely agree, the book was completely whatever.
If not for the movie I actually would not even remember the plot of the book.
Though the movie wasn’t exactly a masterpiece, it is somewhat memorable.
It was also one of those books where you just get annoyed by the protagonist and not in a good way.
Silo series.
I saw the first season and I liked it and after finding it’s based on books decided to read it.
And while I did like the books, they were fun, it just didn’t seem as good as tv show. For the the TV show was above average dystopian show while the books were your average modern dystopia.
I actually liked some minor changes they did to the show, I thought the pacing was better. Most importantly, characters were way better. In the books everyone were just kinda… Generic. I saw someone describing it as if any character could be saying any character lines and it wouldn’t matter, and I agree.
However, in the tv series I think actors have done decent job and make bland characters interesting, especially Rebecca Ferguson.
There are many more examples of tv being better, but this is just on top of my head since I finished Silo this month.
I don’t think it’s bad, there is something mildly interesting, the writing is fine, but as I mentione… Just boring.
I can see it being decent book if you really haven’t read any mysteries or haven’t seen those kind of movies, but it’s miles below Gone Girl in quality. Not even in the same realm.
