  • Oh hey, hay čxʷ q̓ə for the reply! That’s good to know what the equivalent quality is. I juuuust discovered a good, high quality instant coffee that is decent. It’s called Davidoff. Pricey at anywhere from $15 - $20(!) CAD for 100g.

I’m trying to avoid Nestle products on principle, and I find the Tim Horton’s original blend way too high acidity/bitterness but it’s okay in a pinch.

I’ll take a look at more of the big box stores you mentioned.

  • “Text message”? What are we - barbarians?

Seriously though, using text messages these days means that inevitably you will encounter the green vs blue issue. Android and Apple phones don’t play nice with their text messages. Gods help you if you ever get into a group text message thread with multiple Android and Apple phones. Anytime an Apple user reacts to a message it’s sent as a separate text message, “John 🤣 to ‘Check out this meme’”

At least with WhatsApp it puts everyone in the same texting playground.

  • If I remember correctly, the community and customers asked if the LTT backpack, with its premium price tag, could have a lifetime warranty similar to other backpack products. The response from LTT was “No,” and the reasoning behind that answer didn’t really convince people.

I remember Linus saying something to the effect that he didn’t want to put any potential future burden on the LTT business, or his family (I believe Linus’ wife is also a stakeholder in the business) in the event he was not around.

My hot take, I got the sense that Linus believed in the backpack as a good product, but didn’t want to lock himself into supporting it for a long time.

  • It’s looking good to me! As @blueday@lemmy.world said, double check the clearences with the video card between the case, motherboard, and RAM. Try searching for reviews of the motherboard you’re looking at, ctrl + F and look for “clearence” or some other related word and see if there are any complaints.

Good idea going for a video card with more RAM.

Since I switched to AMD, I’ve been a big fan of the Ryzen chips. You get more cores at good speeds and competitive pricing versus Intel’s chip. I’m also into supporting competition and voting with my wallet where and when I can. The extra cores will help with video editing, encoding, etc. But, ymmv between Intel and AMD.

My limited understanding with RAM is that after a certain point you are measuring speeds and clocks that will only give you marginal improvements (a difference in a handful of half seconds and seconds between different kits). I would suggest getting the most DDR5 RAM you can afford right now and don’t really sweat it too much.
