You have to consider that the brazillian league is much more competitive than the premier league, or any league in europe for that matter. this isn’t like an arsenal situation, where they had a big lead but there was the unstoppable force of man city coming after them.
as an example, botafogo are now on 3 wins in the last 18 games but only lost the 1st place like two matchdays ago. All their contenders are also pretty inconsistent, or otherwise are on a big streak right now but were shit for a long period of time earlier on in the season. A 13 point lead midway through the season is HUGE considering the context, to the point where botafogo are the first team to sucessfully manage a bottlejob of this level.
