Thank you! The seat was an old dining room chair that was trash picked and not worth repairing. The legs were turned from pallet wood.
Lathe was the only power tool used.
I think you are on to something here. Saw online somewhere that thin veneers can be made by edge planing a board. The strip can then be glued and wrapped around the tenon to take up the extra space. Think this is what I’ll try.
Thanks for replying. I’m curious how the screws hold up. In my experience I’ve only seen metal fasteners damage the joint even more as it flexes.
There doesn’t seem to be a straight forward way to set up a tv tuner.
I’m also dual wielding. I think the only thing really keeping me on plex is there doesn’t seem to be a straight forward way to set up a tv tuner.
The only difference with the Danish oil is the addition of some varnish. Apply enough coats and it’ll start to build up and might help a little with stain resistance. Otherwise you would need something more durable like a film finish. I think maybe laquer or a CA finish would work well for oil/grease resistance.
Some people don’t put any finish on handles and let natural oils from their hands build a patina. If you don’t like the look then some kind of film finish is probably what you need.
I just try different handle shapes until I find ones I like.
In the US most woodturning/woodworking supply stores carry kits. In this case I took the guts from a Harbor Freight screwdriver, turned a new handle out of cherry, filling the cracks with colored epoxy, made a ferrule from a brass plumbing fitting, and put it all together. The handle is finished with Danish oil.
Thank you!
I’ve done this with great success on kitchen cabinet hinges. I didn’t drill them out, just broke off wooden toothpicks to match the depth of the hole, covered with wood glue, put them in the hole, then put the screw back in. Works amazingly well.
I have not made one but I’d be open to a commission if it was within my capabilities. I might need more to go off of than that one picture.
I don’t know if direct messages are a feature with kbin but you can also contact me through my Etsy store
All hand tools from rough lumber, with the exception of driving screws into the wall for the brackets. Odies Oil finish.

Do you use it dry or with compound for razor blades? I’ve wanted to try it with razor blades but haven’t tried it yet.
I couldn’t get Feedly to work. I tried to add a sub and initially content appeared but no new content is showing up.
A sturdy bench is a good call. Hard to do much without a good bench.
For rasps the Shinto comes highly recommended. Otherwise hand stitched rasps are supposedly the best but also cost the most.
To be honest I’ve never used a leather strop. I discovered this site when I was learning to sharpen knives. The guy behind the site had access to an electron microscope and used it to test different methods. He found that a loose strip of denim (fixed on one end and held in the hand with the other) with stropping compound worked better than a leather strop. I think for straight razors he added a step after with either dry denim or diamond spray. I figured if it was good enough for this guy it’s good enough for me.
I can say the denim works better than stropping compound on a flat wood board.
Diamond stones for me. I tried the sandpaper on glass method for quite a while and had no idea what I was missing until I got a set of quality diamond stones. Along with it I strop using a strip of denim with green compound.
They generally seem to be shifting away from it being a basic “read it later” app primarily used to save articles that you come across and want to read later and are putting content discovery more front and center. When I opened the app recently a home page came up that had a few of my saved articles but it was mostly filled with suggested articles from the editors or recommended based on an algorithm. I then have to navigate to a different tab that has my “saves”. Looking at the list there is no longer an “archive” button, though I found out swiping will archive the article. Generally the UI has changed to be less intuitive and less focused on the articles that have already been saved.
I used the app to quickly save articles I want to read but don’t have time in the moment and then to go back and read later with a cleaner, more standard format.
Interesting. So their docker-compose file can be used to start up a local server? This might be worth trying out sooner than I thought.
Y’all are as bad as Reddit. Yes I see it. No it’s not intentional.
