If your team is small (or just you), I’ve been super happy not using any kind of git host and just pushing to a bare repo via SSH.
This is my thought. Occasionally it will think it’s a new TLD but for the most part, it will still search and I am sure all of the major search engines assume this is happening.
I pay for a good number of them. Not that I can’t self-host alternatives. It is just easier:

This is what I’ve done too. I am almost certain it is less performant than some of the other options out there but I like that it is simple and using a tool I know. If this was a major use case of mine, I’d probably do more playing and get it working with something else but this works for now.
