  • These guys are always upset about women not working. Or upset that women working means they want a partner in life instead of relying on men for food and shelter.

Or they’re upset at the possibility of women needing alimony after spending their entire marriage not working while catering to their man’s every need

Or upset that they have to pay child support to the person with primary custody of said children (and probably doesn’t have great career prospects after being a housewife).

They live in some delusional fantasy land where women live to serve men, but aren’t at all concerned with their own well being when their men decide to ditch them.

  • There’s also a non zero amount of people that don’t like being home. Whether it’s the spouse or the kids they’re avoiding, WFH makes it harder to avoid whatever is going on at home.

Just my gut feeling, but I’m gonna guess lots of c suite rich dudes would rather have a reason to be away from their wives and kids than being at home working. And there’s no cute coworkers to creep on either if everyone is home!

I’ve had regular co-workers not leave the office early when everyone else was because they didn’t want to “have to watch the kid(s) alone”.

  • What if we were finally able to get insurance companies out of healthcare in the US? Thousands would lose their jobs, but millions would suddenly be able to get care. So much money would be saved, but so many people would suddenly be out of work.

I don’t know about you, but I hate paying several hundred dollars a month (and 100s or 1000s if I actually get care) to prop up a whole ass middleman between me and my care.

Anyway, my point is we can’t keep old systems only for the sake of preserving jobs. The guy you’re replying to is short sighted and relying too heavily on a language imitation program, but he’s essentially right about not keeping jobs just because.
