  • I don’t care, man, braveheart was fucking dope. plus that’s very reductive, it’s a very personal story as well in many ways. there’s friendship and love and :.|:; and betrayal and revenge. it really hits hard on an emotional level in so many scenes. two or three that made me cry, a number of fuck you moments and a bunch of fuck yeah moments. it has so many perfect setup and payoff arcs that more recent insanely popular media severely lacks, like breaking bad or Harry Potter.

Gibson is an absolute piece of shit but it’s a shame that he’s actually talented, unlike a crushing majority of these hogs.

  • I’m not that cynical about little kids. Maybe they sometimes do things that annoy you because they find it funny, not because it’s specifically annoying. Surely not annoying to them anyway. idk I find it weird to ascribe malice to a 3-5 year old. in any case, I’m a big guy, I can handle a little kid even if they want to annoy me.

  • yeah. though “fiscally conservative” is a myth in two senses. first, those people are usually the ones who have the worst policies for the economy. second, fiscal conservatism can’t be decoupled from social conservatism. that’s the bigger myth. the fact that you can be socially progressive but economically conservative. those policies inevitably result in social hierarchies at best, and oppression at worst.

  • how are federal holidays not mandatory time off dude there’s a reason they exist. what a backwards country.

edit: apparently the concept is so foreign that people don’t understand how these things work. of course there will be exceptions but of you work on a holiday you get a full day’s salary as overtime. this usually assures employers only force work when necessary because most would rather not pay extra. and of course further exceptions can be made into the law. no one said life should stop when there’s a holiday.
