I dig it. The best part of GoT is the scheming and the war and the fucked up families, and HoD cute out all of the other stuff and focuses on just those aspects of the universe.

I have never even heard of “no iron clothes” until now, and I haven’t ironed any of my clothes except when I absolutely had to do it because I was in the Marines.
Hey now, some of us like to iron patches onto our jackets of things we like!
lol
lmao
North Korea: develops a custom version of Linux for government computers and operates a threadbare internet infrastructure with leftover servers that they found on the side of the road that can somehow serve the entire country
Westerners: Wow North Korea’s internet really sucks!
I remember having the Extigy, and having problems getting it work properly with basically every single game I owned.
Why would I want my prompt to be private if I don’t want to use the result in some malicious way
Do you think that the only thing people use AI for is making deepfakes and CSAM? AFAIK the most common use is generating porn. Now, I don’t think generating regular porn is “malicious”, but I certainly understand why most people (self included) want to keep what they generate private.
I’m thinking Saturn is up there at S tier. Those rings are hot.
D tier is Mars. Just stupid ass-rocks.
I watched one Critical Drinker video that was recommended to me, I think it was on Mulan, all I needed to know that he’s a twat because he was deliberately misrepresenting the original animated film in order to make a really tortured point about moral lessons in modern movies being bad.
cinemasins, hoonest trailers, the critical drinker
Don’t know much about the other channels, but these three will do it for ya. The average level of media literacy among youtube reviewers is the absolute pits, and if you teach yourself to think about movies on that level, then you’re playing yourself. I’m not like, Mr Cinema Buff certified expert or anything, but I’ve curated my subscriptions to reviewers with interesting things to say and points of view that I don’t have, so that it feels like more of a complement to watching film and TV to me than something that drags the whole experience down.
Even back when Wikileaks stories first broke and I was a lib I was shocked at how bloodthirsty everyone around me was for him. Same thing with Snowden and Manning - the most humanist-seeming libs will drop all that shit instantly if you can be portrayed as an enemy,
So yeah not surprised at all that Stormfront is in full on “enemy of the state” mode.
I suppose you would also be fine with every one of your google searches being in a database? Every video you’ve ever watched, even the ones in private browser tabs?
I don’t think reflexes decline, or speed. Fucking thirty year old Starcraft pros can and do remain top level despite their relative age, and we really don’t see APM decline that much.
I think it’s more that young players can bring a new way of viewing a game to the forefront that is more effective than the old way, and the true test of a pro is whether they can adapt to a changing meta or if they’ll cling to the old ways until their entire playstyle is unviable at the top level.
This goes doubly true for games that are receiving regular patches, since the meta is shifting much more frequently. People who get good at the current meta will rise to the top, but if they’re inflexible they’ll be selected out once their playstyle is no longer top tier.
(as for non-pros, people over 25 probably are worse at playing games, but it’s because they have more responsibilities that reduce their practice time.)
I’m 90% convinced that being too good at games is actually bad for a streamer. Like, you how people will hate watch content, and there are tiktok pages that make bait content for hate watchers? Being bad at a game in a really obvious and frustrating way for the viewers is that.
Americans under thirty have the same goldfish memory their parents and grandparents do, more at eleven.
I think the experience of reading the old EU content was really in keeping with the Star Wars spirit. Star Wars was all about capturing the feeling of old sci fi serials like Flash Gordon, with a splash of westerns and samurai films, and the golden era of Star Wars novels and games were pulpy and schlocky and fun in all the same ways as Star Wars’ inspirations were - but without the annoying self awareness of many modern takes on the genre (including most of Disney’s films and shows, which can’t have a single camp moment without someone looking straight at the camera and mugging like an idiot). I don’t particularly feel that relentless brand loyalty either, but its undeniably something I’ve spent a lot of my life doing and that I have a lot to say about.
I stopped reading mid-Vong war, but I didn’t dislike it.
Unfortunately no, the only “new” Legends content in the past decade were stories that were mid stride being finished, and the only one currently in production is the ongoing storyline of the MMO The Old Republic.
For me, it feels more like a redemption arc. Nothing can undo how bad GoT’s ending was, but maybe another story in the same universe that’s shorter and has a planned, satisfying ending from the very beginning can create the closure that the original series failed to deliver.
