The Pop Shop is definitely one of the worst things about the distro, Cosmic Shop runs smooth as butter by comparison. Looking forward to the Cosmic Beta currently due in a few months

Popped straight up on AntennaPod for me
Nice, saw them play in a pub in 2010. The one artist I can claim to have seen before they “blew up.” Never got into Poison the Well though
Fair, I was being conservative just in case they were interested in any RT games. 2077 would get up there at 1440p
Do you have a specific budget in mind, what sort of games do you play?
I’m not sure what the used market is like in your area but I’d see if you could pick up a 6800XT, 1440p would benefit significantly from the additional RAM. Here I think you could probably negotiate to £350-£370 or so?
To me there’s a comfort in some aspects of seasonal holidays, like reuniting with family and friends, particularly with those who I don’t see that often these days. It’s a good chance to catchup and socialise in comfortable settings (to me at least, I understand others could have family obligations they’d rather avoid). That it’s Christmas season, or New Year, or whatever is almost irrelevant.
I don’t have any plans this NYE, though I’m going to a NYD party my favourite club is putting on tomorrow. So instead, I’ll relax tonight by messing about with my decks and some new tunes I’ve bought recently whilst watching some college football in the background
I liked it but only as it was quite close to the comic, definitely understand why most others would dislike it
I avoid superhero comics (with a few exceptions like Watchmen) so sure as hell I was going to avoid the films
I did study it at school but had to take Classical Civilisation for one of my GCSE options. Our default in English Literature was a Shakespeare work as previously mentioned (Merchant of Venice for me). I also recall studying An Inspector Calls?
I’m a Charli and MagBay fan but sadly I only liked but didn’t love the new records… Glad to see both get more recognition though, 2024 was certainly Year of the Brat imo! Other that just missed out were the new albums from Perc, Dax J and Knocked Loose. Sandwell District is a compilation but I had to get Silent Servant on there in some guise, on the biggest musical losses this year along with Luiz Vasquez/The Soft Moon ;_;
Really dig that they have a Poppy feature on the new record hah
A tub of cold baked beans
I loved the Necron Pariahs and were sad when GW retconn’d them :( To me, there’s something very pure about blanks, especially given the preponderance of Chaos in it’s many guises as well as it’s direct and indirect influence on the rest of the 40k setting
“Despite knowing the journey and where it leads, I embrace it. And I welcome every moment of it.”
“Duet” gets me too
Along similar lines to the previous gothy comment, much of Borusiade’s music fits in this category, being a mix of EBM and ambient influences. Check out Breathe as an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rj7L9RGr4p8
Edit: spoilers ahead, stands to reason I remember on the final LD episode
Loved loved loved the Wrath of Khan style shots of the Cerritos’ saucer section, the DIS style Klingons, the ultimate fate of Starbase 80 and Carol along with it. Nice way to wrap it all up with a tribute to the ship’s crew, but I’m still so sad it’s the end at least for now. Time to hunt down the comics…
Holy crap, that was amazing. I guess the power of the multiverse is that, to quite 3 the Cole Porter standard, anything goes…
Loved this episode, weirdly my favourite aspect was seeing all the “Other Deck” characters again: Delta shift, Westlake, Barnes, Bingston, Meredith, Stevens and the cadet who needed help studying.
Stevens in particular showed his worth as an organised and thoughtful adjutant to the Captain, was great to see him as something other than Ransom’s biggest fan or just the butt of jokes.
Kinda off topic but does anyone know a reliable thing that does the opposite, i.e. a good speech to text tool? There’s a few audiobook series that I’d love to read but are only available in audio format
