Could you imagine getting left drift down there!? They should have had an entirely redundant system on there; the controller being the first item on the list and from there to the motors.

A last-minute adjustment before launch plugged in a thruster backwards; no protocol to check the behaviour prelaunch. They doscovered it when they got to the bottom.
