    It kind of feels like they are playing hardball to get the government to increase the subsidies.

    On the other hand:

    “The case for a UK-led renewable energy developer, backed by the UK public which can benefit from the returns over the next few decades, has just become stronger,” he said.

    I think this would get a lot of support. Perhaps taking the Crown Estate seafloor money (over £300M last year) and investing that would be a good start.

      Nationalising energy is such an obvious step, compared to our current subsidising of private sector energy providers working for profit not public good in sectors which require central control anyway. I don’t have much faith in the current lot to do it though.
