Gideon George Osborne on his podcast said yesterday that losing both safe seats in by-elections would be ‘armageddon’ for the Conservatives. Some rumours today of the dreaded ‘letters of no confidence’ from the 1922 committee, but I suspect there are no candidates who want to lose a general election. So could we be going for a snap election?

But on the flip side, if that was the case nobody would ever call an election as you could always just say theres no goldilocks period. Mandates do expire. If they get rid of Sunak it will be their 4th unelected PM, no manifestos and a trail of destruction.

in the podcast they mention a 5-eyes rule which prevents an election in more than one member state at the same time. If we had november next year it will clash with the US. Id never considered it a thing

Is that rule actually a thing? Because as much as I’m for cooperation between nations I don’t love the idea that our Politics can be delayed because another state is holding an election.

And I’m fairly sure they legally have to call an election once every 5 years right?
