I posted recently about my struggles with my new 7a battery. I installed android 14 beta today and going to bed after 4 hours SOT I’ve got 50% battery left, the difference is ridiculous.

From my reading I’m led to believe Google will find a way to lose the gains by the time the release is final but I have my fingers crossed, it’s turned the phone from a regret to a sound purchase so far.

That’s pretty exciting. I have a pixel 6 pro and the battery life has been abysmal for a while. Like 50% battery after unplugged for 5-6 hours with minimal use. I’ve been trying to hunt battery draining apps but to no avail yet.

I’d already done every trick to try and maximise battery so perhaps my results are a little generous. Are you able to try the beta on 6 Pro? I recommend giving it a go.

I might try it out but I use my phone for important work stuff. So beta anything makes me a bit nervous.

Yeah I feel you. I do too but the battery felt like a liability so I took the plunge. You can read about the bugs before you do so but I haven’t come across any. And you can pull out of the beta at the final release. You do need to clean wipe if you decide to pull out from the beta before then though.

Oof. Doing a clean wipe sounds awful with MFA and email and other work stuff I have on my phone. I think I might skip and just plug my phone in more often for now and hope for the best lol.

Yeah it scared me too. If you’re happy already no harm sticking with the same. But if you do find it frustrating, it’s a very mature beta and has worked flawlessly for me so far.

give me a 5-6 hour (preferably entirely idle/screen off) bbs dump and I’ll tell you what’s wrong; best guess is it’s not ever going into doze at all

Same boat, I’m afraid. I’m very tempted by the sale they’re having on the 6a right now, though!

I’m still enjoying using this phone though.

If I can make the battery last until next year, I ideally want to hold on for the 8a (if they release one).

I’ve been running the A14beta on my 7 Pro after reading a post by someone who said he was getting insanely great battery life after installing it. I can’t quantify if it’s better or by how much, but I don’t regret the upgrade at this point.
