True, the post’s title made me remember that popular MacOS user with a Youtube channel that tried Asahi Linux. He is quite funny even though he thinks that Linux does everything wrong and complicated.

I’ve posted this because I believe Alpine Linux deserves more attention (And I’m a BSD fan, but that is irrelevant). It is light weight and very small and can be used on SBC boards. The documentation of Alpine Linux leaves a lot to be desired for beginning Linux users but is kind of okay for the more experienced Linux user.

Cool. Thanks. That post may encourage me to finally learn more about tmux. From that list of software I’d use neomutt rather than Alpine with Midnight Commander (nnn is nice but not for me yet) and a mpd client.

Yeah, I’m already using cmus and have used ranger before so I’d probably stick to those myself. (or try out lf for a file manager). I also mostly do email on my phone, and don’t have a Thunderbird alternative for the terminal so I’d probably stick to just my phone for email. I’ve also tried zellij so I might consider that instead of Tmux.

Alpine is the perfect little container OS I will say that.

It’s been a while since I have built a jail but I think Alpine would be a just a touch lighter from a disk point of view unless your running a thin jail then things get crazy light per jail but do come with disadvantages from what I remember.

I really with FreeBSD would get a port of Podman and I could just go back to my FreeBSD. My servers are rock solid since they where installed in the FreeBSD 10 days and just keep getting updated with no problems at all

I have not played with Bastille much. It seems to have some really nice features. That the recommended one to use these days?

I am currently using iocage to manage my jail.i migrated from ezjail
