Recently, every time I click on a “Trending Communities” link there’s an entirely empty community moderated by the @Vacant@programming.dev account.

What’s going on?

        Just guessing, but:

        If they’re new:

        This way it exists and people can post there

        If they’re old:

        A now inactive account likely made them, but that person no longer uses Lemmy. If it wasn’t “taken over” it would be unmoderated. Consolidating those under one account is easier on the admin and let’s people willing to mod know they can request the community
