I don’t go on social media so I don’t really get it but I have seen memes here and there of women getting mauled by bears presented in a “heh, serves her right” kind of way.
So weird that dudes complain that they can’t get women when the message they put out there is they hate women and make images of them being brutally mauled. 
EDIT: I did not expect to see people I trust minimise SA here. I’m disappointed, that’s something I expect from a random chud blowing in from another instance, not you guys. Most of you were extremely cool in your answers, but to the one or two that weren’t. Do fucking better.
okay let’s talk about what you should actually do about this. you are presenting hella masc, women are more afraid of you than a bear. you’re on a forest path. if you flee from the forest path, that will look worse. do you turn around acting like you forgot something? use your AGGRESSIVE HYPERMASC STOMP to mime going back for your phone? do you say hello as you pass them? do you completely ignore them?
generally when I am on trails alone I just start jogging again if I spot someone way up ahead, but isn’t that like charging at them? I just want to make sure we don’t interact with each other. because silently ignoring people feels rude when I do it, I am happy to discover people might have thought I was a Netflix serial killer
look, I promise I know what to do in actual social situations. well, I know of SOME things to do. but stuff like this, I don’t know.
Seem pretty obvious to me that you just ignore them or just give a brief nod and a “hi” like you would anyone else.

Wreckers will always be incredibly defensive, they are always the victim in all circumstances, but not just due to misunderstandings, they will always claim maliciousness on the part of others as a means to try and turn the community against each other and encourage paranoia.
We can see this here with this 2 week old account insisting that a long time, well respected member of the community is “gaslighting” them, when all Dirt_Owl is doing is calling them out on their misogyny.

I’m sure you can all spot this pattern in this person’s comments in this thread(EDIT: Well, not now that their comments are deleted). This is how all manner of abusive and manipulative people can stay under the radar and get away with their behaviour.
The only gaslighting Dirt Owl does is when they eat too many beans while carrying a flashlight.

But also, there’s still ambiguity. If the man is clearly a park ranger, or part of a search party, or something like that, I think most would rather see the man there.
Oh well you can get lost on some paths without literally wandering through the brush around here or through taking side paths which have just kinda developed so I was just kinda thinking about it that way. That sounds like guys getting mad about a x (formerly known as twitter )thread like “even if i was doing a survivorman esque challenge got lost and had been missing for days i would rather see a bear than a stinky boy”
