Okay okay. We all love our children. They’re an endless source of fun and joy and all that good stuff…but they can also be absolute nightmares.
Consider this thread your safe space to vent; to moan about your usually angelic children, free from judgement and you know, shame.
So, how have your kids ruined your day this week?
I’ll go first I guess, set the mood if you will.
Monday. Everything is going as planned. The kids are having fun, I’ve found a few minutes to shower and I’ve not started thinking about going back to work on Tuesday just yet.
Anyway my daughter comes running in. There’s a spider on one of mummy’s tomato plants. It’s causing no harm whatsoever. I don’t want to move it because…well it’s not causing any harm.
My daughter isn’t a fan of this plan. Nah, she wants the spider gone and she won’t stop until it’s gone. To cut a long story short she refused to go outside, whilst also adamantly claiming that she absolutely had to go outside, but couldn’t… because of the spider.
20 minutes later she’s laying on the floor crying her eyes out. My infant son is crying, and I’m thinking if it’s too early to crack open the red wine.
I’m autistic and my kids are autistic. So I like things done a certain way and they want to do it their way. Autism generally means we stand our ground on either side. We don’t clash that often thankfully.
Another annoyance is my eldest son will have an excuse for why anything wasn’t his fault. Even when I spot him doing said thing. He’ll say it wasn’t him and steadfastly stick to that excuse. 😐
