A remarkable and deeply uncomfortable comedy, in which the comedian, writer and film-maker Jerrod Carmichael confronts all manner of evasions, trauma and awkwardness. In the first episode of this week’s double bill, he encourages his friend Jamar to tackle difficult childhood incidents on stage and in the guise of standup. Then, in Homecoming, he introduces his deeply religious mother to his boyfriend, Mike. Phil Harrison
