Do you rent a flat or a house and, if so, where?

Do you live with family or flatmates?

Are you trying to buy a home? How’s that going?

I finally at the age of 38 managed to buy a home with my wife last year. It’s a small 2-bed terraced on the outskirts of London.

We got very, very lucky. We managed to get a mortgage at 3.1%. At the time, it seemed like the worst financial decision ever. I’d never heard of someone paying such a high rate.

But 100%, if we had waited, we’d never have the affordability to buy this year.

Bought my flat a bit over a year ago. It was a tough time at the the tail end of lockdown, with people fighting each other in the street over properties, and I’d been homeless for a year after rejecting three previous accepted offers - it took its toll on me. Came down to the seller recognising me from my local and asking about to see if I was a decent guy (amazingly I passed that test).

Bought a 3 bedroom semi in 1999 when I was 23!, Mortgage would be paid off before the fixed rate ends (1.69%), However we are looking to move sometime in the next year.

As I look at the market now I can’t imagine how a person of 23 could possibly afford the same.

Live with the GF of 10 years.

    House is located near Sheffield.

Renting a house in central Hampshire.

    By myself.

Not at this moment of time. It’s not due to medical costs.
