Meanwhile the motherfucker cut corners on his marquee truck so that the accelerator pedal fell apart, the single enormous under-powered wiper unsurprisingly fails, etc. How does he still have a cult of personality and a reality distortion field? I just don’t get it.

    An article from last month - Tesla Cybertruck’s Gigawiper Is Again in the Spotlight As Wiper Motors Fail Repeatedly.

    A Bluesky post about it.

    Here’s the article I read. Exactly a month ago! Tesla bragged they’d be able to power their giant wiper conglomeration with an 800 watt motor. Might have worked, too, except they installed a 120 watt motor - apparently only twice as strong as your normal car’s wiper motor. […] They may have worked okay under test conditions: limited duration, no wind from the environment or from the car’s motion, no vibration or bumps or grit. But its incredible that once they realized their fuckup they didn’t implement a fix and issue a physical recall.

    I work on vehicle components and there are standard certification tests that cover that stuff. ISO standard tests for all of that. So I’m wondering what they actually did in development.

    “Supplier quality issue” is such a lame way to pass the buck. Reality is they did no prolonged testing and had no idea this would happen.

    I know the feature about the truck I talk most about is the wipers. Definitely not it’s astounding continued ability to be lethal to its drivers and everyone around it.

    tiny detail but it’s very silly to me that all these ‘deliveries’ of cyber trucks are to ‘delivery centers’ a customer has to go pick them up from. that’s not what i would call a delivery

      My wild guess is that Elon treats his celeb customers extremely well. He clearly treats the Joe Schmo Cybertruck customers like garbage as though they bought a no-frills $19,999.99 cheapomobile.

      On Friday Cybertruck reservations holders started reporting on social media that their delivery appointments had been abruptly cancelled, some without notice, only being told of the cancellation once they arrived at the Delivery Center.

      “I was just turned away today at 4pm est for my cybertruck delivery. No text or call or any heads up…Wasted trip,” wrote one Cybertruck customer on Facebook.

      My wild guess is that celebs get special treatment for their Cyberstuff. It’s clear every other Cybertruck owner else gets treated like total shit. For assholes who own something expensive - part of the joy is annoying people and lecturing them how your brand pampers you. But Cybertruck owners have to go into their bunker of shame protected from the hecklers where they can commiserate with themselves as they hope and pray Big Daddy Elon notices their begging tweets for redress and attention.

    I hate how bazinga tech companies that build useless garbage for rich people have the dumbest names ever. The “ultrafactory”, the “gigawiper”, shit like that. It can’t just be made in a factory, it’s gotta be EXTREME. Not even early 2000’s edgy culture was this pandering.
