We’re very grateful for your feedback during the beta testing and are happy to announce that automatic photo backup on iOS is rolling out now and will be available for everyone over the next few days.

Features

  • Automatic backup that can be enabled to sync to the secure cloud at regular intervals
  • End-to-end encryption of biometric data, geographic information, and other important metadata
  • Save images in their original resolution
  • Select any file, video, or photo to easily view them offline
  • Generate an encrypted file-sharing link with or without password protection for any photo or video, to share with anyone

    Assuming it’s the same as on Android then it’s pretty good but there’s quite a big caveat: it backs up every image as soon as you take/receive it, so you have to delete extras both on your device and on proton drive (sadly it’s not a sync like google photos)

      I turned the feature on recently and … where are the photos stored on Drive? I can’t find them on my PC. I am trying hard to transition over the Drive from Dropbox and Sync.com but it’s confusing in unexpected ways

    This is awesome! Thanks for the new feature. Hopefully, this is one more step away from apple in my life. I’ll be testing it out shortly
