Cautiously optimistic that this could be good! I’m a big Terminator franchise fan and what it so desperately needs is to reinvent itself or to at least try something different.

Having watched Genisys and Dark Fate recently, the franchise really needs a kick up the arse.

I think the problem is the John Connor factor. We need stories that somehow involve terminators but not John. I know the first comics did that I think but can’t remember how.

I do remember a brilliant part. As we know, nothing dead comes through time. So a Terminator stuffed a future laser pistol into the stomach of an unwitting human and used him as a time “suitcase”.

Star Wars had exactly the same problem in the newer movies too, where they kept wheeling out Han and Leia and Luke who have no damn business being there, because the producers can’t just let go and move on.

It’s like the execs think if they change characters it will scare the audience off, and we won’t feel like it’s Star Wars anymore (and they won’t make as much money…)

Star Wars: Andor showed the solution to this problem, and Terminator is crying out for exactly the same - content set in the same universe, but wih all-new characters we’ve never seen before, and a totally original plot. That’s what we want.

So yeah, I hope it’s good too and that they take a fresh direction.

August 29. That’s pretty cool. August 29, 1997 was the original Judgment Day. A little disappointed John and Sarah Connor and the T-800 aren’t going to be in it, but I’ll see how it goes.
