      Fortunately, a lot of children of shitty parents grow up to be good people.

      Many adult children of these sorts of parents tend to become estranged from their family of origin when they fail to become their parents clone.

      This part is just my observation, but it seems that the more a terrible parent wants their kids to be exactly like them more the child will rebel and run in the opposite direction once they’re free.

        i don’t think that’s what he’s implying. Once you get to that level of fame and money, it’s impossible to know if someone actually likes you or is just using you. Since he squandered his marriage from before he got rich, he’s probably run into a lot of situations where he thought someone liked him, but was actually just trying to get money out of him. Not that it justifies his behavior in the slightest, but it must be quite a disillusioning experience.

    The one major issue with many people like Elon, and I am referring to white supremacists who believe that genes are the only thing that matters, is they legitimately believe that nothing else other than what your biological parents matters. People like this are also obsessed with sci-fi series like Dune and Star Wars where bloodlines are literally all what is needed to make someone ascend to greatness.

    This is why they are also shit fathers. Elon probably has never known what his childrens’ personal lives were like and does not care. The most he would do is provide the finances needed for education and living and nothing more. It is no wonder why many of his kids can’t stand him. It isn’t just that he treats them coldly but that they never had any real opportunity to bond with one another.

    Same thing with Donald Trump and his kids. His relationship with his own sons is transactional and he raised them to trust no one, not even him. I used to wonder how in times past noble and/or royal siblings and children would rise up against and usurp their power or kill one another. It started to make sense after this. Even they didn’t really think of each other as one family that should stick through thick and thin together, but as rivals who sometimes help each other and sometimes fuck one another over.

Things like being weirdly jealous sounding of her boyfriends, to iirc inviting her over, making a joke about comparing her to his wife, and now this.
